About the Event
We are pleased to invite our member, Dr. Nick TSE (謝家和博士), assistant professor, registered social worker and MINT certified trainer. Dr. Tse will share his expertise on “Apply Collective Motivational Interviewing to Address Gaming Problems” and also present a case sample to illustrate how collective MI strategies can benefit adolescents struggling with gaming problems (AGP).
Part 1: Topic Sharing with Dr. Nick Tse
When we encounter adolescents with gaming problems (AGP), we often face challenges such as their lack of insight, pressure from parents to attend counselling sessions, and the potential for criticism and blame to arise between AGP and their parents during sessions. It’s crucial to sharpen a productive dialogue between them. While individual MI for AGP may help gain insight and create ambivalence through MI-style practice, it might not be sufficient for optimizing their lifestyle, managing expectations, and rebuilding relationships with their parents. Collective MI encompasses all core components of MI while also incorporating significant others to foster change and create an agreed change plan regarding lifestyle and gaming-related behaviors. This forum offers a platform for participants to grasp the latest application of collective MI, covering concepts, design, and implementation. Open-platform discussions will contribute to the ongoing development of collective MI.
Part 2: Work Sample Discussion
Dive deeper into MI strategies with a practical work sample discussion facilitated by Ms. Sandra LAI and Mr. William KO. Exploring how these strategies can promote positive changes and support adolescents in managing gaming habits effectively.
We hope to see you in the forum and have a fruitful exchange of ideas.
